I am a little biased on this one because I heard so many good things about the movie before I saw it. It has been really hyped up for some time and rightfully so. Based on true events by the screenwriter this movie delivers with very few dull moments. This is Seth Rogen’s best role to date, he was funny without being obnoxious and when it was time to be serious, it was very convincing. This movie is unique because it crosses two genres that rarely come together in a movie: sad and comedic.
What made this movie hit home was how real it felt because cancer could attack anyone. The whole time it made me think, “how would i react if I got cancer?” You never think of it because you live your life right, like Joesph Gordon-Levitt said :
Adam: “A tumor?”
Doctor: “Yes.”
Adam: “Me?”
Doctor: “Yes.”
Adam: “That doesn’t make any sense though. I mean, I don’t smoke, I don’t drink…I recycle…”
My favorite scenes are when Seth and Joseph finally rid the lying girlfriend from their lives and destroy her painting. Makes you feel like things are looking up for him. And the scene when he is in the car finally coming to realize that tomorrow could be his last day on earth.
Recommendation: I would suggest seeing this in the theater, or at least renting it when it comes out on DVD or Netflix. You will laugh, be touched and reassess whats important in your life after seeing this movie.
